Capt E H Brass commanded No 1 Coy 14th Bn Mounted Infantry, until 10 Nov 1901, when he was drowned trying to swim the Wilge River. Lt Moeller, Duke of Cambridge’s Own (Middlesex Regiment) assumed command. Associated with the Boer War (1899-1902).
