Description

Glengarry badge (part), other ranks, 34th (Cumberland) Regiment, 1874-1881. Die-struck. The badly damaged remains of a ball-tipped Maltese Cross superimposed upon a laurel wreath and consisting only of the dexter arm bearing the battle honours: 'Albuhera/ Vittoria', the lower arm bearing the battle honours: 'Sevastopol/ Lucknow', and the central circlet bearing the regimental title, within which is the regimental number. The upper and sinister arms of the cross are missing, also the crown surmounting it and presumably a scroll below, bearing the battle honour: 'Arroyo dos Molinos'. The reverse bears one of two horizontally placed loop fittings, behind the dexter arm. Part of a badge, plate and clasp collection. Associated with the Peninsular War (1808-1814), the Crimean War (1854-1856) and the India Mutiny (1857-1859).
