Description
Letter from Pte Eustace Swain, 3rd (King’s Own) Hussars attached 9th (Queen’s Royal) Lancers, Kroonstad, South Africa to his friend Tom Humberstone, England, 11 Sep 1900. Pte Swain describes ‘We are being troubled with rebels they keep on blowing up the lines and trying to stop our trains from coming up to us ... Lord Roberts was to kind to the Boers and now they are taking advantage of his good kindness’. Associated with Boer War (1899-1902).
