Photograph of the Corps of Drums leading a farewell parade for RSM Walter Edward Hawkins, 3rd Battalion Grenadier Guards, as he leaves the barracks in Egypt for the last time, November 1934. Two lines of soldiers stand either side of the path, wearing their various uniforms including chefs in chefs whites. The path is tree-lined and leads away from a large building. Hawkins enlisted in the Grenadier Guards in January 1909 and served for nearly 26 years, until his discharge in December 1934.
