Manuscript letter to Lt Gen Sir Gerald Ellison from Capt Digby Mackworth, an officer engaged in supressing the rebellion in West Africa, 11 Oct 1897.
He condemned the policy of not attacking unless first attacked, and noted that those planning the campaign had not considered the fact that there were no communications in the flooded country.
