Photograph: Friday 28th June 1918 - S. Pelagio aerodrome. Capt Bowen explaining the mechanism of the rear observers seat to Genl Delmé-Radcliffe, Col Marchetti and Lt Col Mitchell. From a collection of photographs collected by Lt Col John Fillis Carré Carter whilst serving in Intelligence in Italy during World War One (1914-1918). Two trials of a device for dropping a man by parachute through the floor of an Italian Savoia-Pomilio SP4 aircraft, conducted by the RAF at Grossa and S Pelagio aerodromes in June 1918.
