Shooting medal awarded to Lt William Heaton, Madras Railway Volunteers, 1897. White metal shield with bevelled edges and engraved design of a wheel in semi-profile, flanked by sprays of foliage at base and resting on a tablet, all within a shield-shaped border. Upon the spokes of the wheel the monogrammed letters ‘M R V’ above which is an Imperial crown. Plain reverse with horizontal brooch fitting.
