Newspaper article cut out from the Liverpool Daily Post (No. 30,673) of 7 December 1953 covering the ceremony for the laying up of the old Colours of the 2nd Battalion Grenadier Guards in Liverpool Cathedral the previous day. There are two pictures, one showing Lord Jeffreys, Colonel of the regiment, taking the salute as the battalion marches by and the other showing the Colour Party entering Liverpool Cathedral. The article humorously explains how the Colour Party had marched up the steps to the wrong door, which was closed, and had to march down again, but carried the mistake off well. From an album of 13 photographs and archives entitled: ‘2nd Battalion Grenadier Guards, Liverpool, 6th December 1953’, and relating to the Laying Up of old Colours in Liverpool Cathedral.
