Sterling silver and gilt badge, manufactured by J R Gaunt and Son, in the form of a horseman on a tablet with the battle honour, ‘Relief of Lucknow’, above a scroll bearing the auxiliary unit’s name, ‘United Provinces Horse’. Associated with United Provinces Light Horse (1904), sub-divided 1917 to Northern and Southern Regiments. Material: Sterling silver and gilt The figure of the horsemen is similar to the designs for an equestrian statue of Lt Gen Sir James Outram (1803-1863) in Calcutta by John Henry Foley.
