Photograph of the Nubra Valley, Ladakh, from the village of Panamick looking South East to the lake and mountains. Some Buddhist chieftains or worshippers can be seen at a temple in the foreground. The image was taken, probably by Capt Edward Francis Chapman, when he accompanied Thomas Douglas Forsyth on a diplomatic and trade mission to Yarkand (Yarkant) in Western China in 1873.  No 31 on the handwritten list included with the collection.
