Description
Medal commemorating the Battle of Waterloo 1815. ‘Charge of the British at Waterloo’ Bronze medal by French medallist Alexis Depaulis (1792-1867), from the ‘Series of Medals of British Victories’, a set of 40 medals commissioned and struck in 1820 under the direction of James Mudie, to commemorate victory over France. From a collection of sixteen medals commemorating battles of the Napoleonic Wars (1803-1815) and 3rd Mahratta War (1818). Associated with Henry William Paget, 1st Earl of Uxbridge. Associated with British Cavalry, Battle of Waterloo (1815), Napoleonic Wars, Waterloo (1815).
