Group photograph of the officers of the 1st Battalion Grenadier Guards posing for the image with Lt Col John Salusbury Hughes MC, Commanding Officer, at Kasr-El-Nil barracks in Cairo, March 1932. Image most likely taken by Garrison Photographer S Sarkis, They are wearing service dress with pith sun helmets, Sam Browne belts and swords. Lt Col Hughes MC sits in the front row, fourth from the left, next to a man wearing a civilian suit. From an album of 275 photographs relating mainly to the 1st Battalion Grenadier Guards in Egypt 1930-32’; with images of sports teams, group images at Kasr-El-Nil barracks in Cairo, local people and battalion transport. Many were taken by the Garrison photographer S Sarkis.
