Transcript letter, 24 Jul 1842. Written by Lt Col Thomas Stephens, 5th Regiment of Foot (Northumberland Fusiliers) to his wife Eleanor in Calcutta. Description of the Battle of Ching Kun Foo, details include names of casualties. Associated with 1st China War (1839-1842). Stephens survived the battle of Shing Kun Foo, but died a few days later, possibly from cholera.
