Description
Emperor Tewodros of Abyssinia. One of 19 photographs of watercolours by Lt Frank James, Bombay Staff Corps, DAQMS in Abyssinia, 1868. When he saw the English advancing, he said, 'children it is time to go to bed', galloped on his white horse, back to Magdala, and shot himself. Associated with Emperor Tewodros (Theodore) II of Abyssinia and Abyssinia (1867-1868).
