Hanby Holmes served with the Artist’s Rifles and 6th Bn The Durham Light Infantry.
By the end of the war Hanby Holmes was attached to the Royal Engineers for Army Signal Service.
Papers were collected primarily while serving on the Salonika Front during World War One (1914-1918).
