Burniston Barracks was built as a training base for the Royal Artillery in 1861, near Scarborough. By 1906 the barracks had been reallocated for wider military use and during WWI they served as the 3rd cavalry depot. Between WWI and WWII, units of the Royal Corps of Signals were based there. The barracks were decommissioned in January 1992 and demolished in December 1993.
