Description
Photograph showing a small cemetery, possibly a war cemetery, enclosed by a rectangular plan dry stone wall and a barbed wire fence on the level summit of Majuba Hill, South Africa, June 1900. A few soldiers stand beside the cemetery and others stand on a ridge on the distant horizon. The summit is the former battlefield of Majuba Hill, 26th Feb 1881, an action in the First South African War, but the photograph is taken during the Second South African War, June 1900. From 31 photographs mostly relating to the Boer War, compiled by Capt W E L Stewart, 1900. Mounted on a sheet from a photograph album.
