Letter from Lord Kitchener to FM Sir Evelyn Wood VC, dated British Agency, Cairo, 10 May 1914.
In this letter Lord Kitchener expresses regret over the death of Capt A M McMurdo (this appears to be Capt Arthur Montagau DSO, 1861-1914, of the 71st Highland Light Infantry and son of Gen William Montagau McMurdo). According to the letter McMurdo was afflicted by a disease, and despite doctors’ best efforts died after an operation.
