Description
Major William John Ottley, 34th Sikh Pioneers, 1911. Reproduction of portrait photograph by Langfier Limited, 1911. Major (later Colonel) William John Ottley served with the Royal Munster Fusiliers and the 34th Sikh Pioneers. He participated in the Tibet Exhibition (1903-1904) and wrote an account of the campaign, ‘With Mounted Infantry in Tibet’. The Tibet Medal 1903-04 is in the centre of his medal group. He retired from the Army in May 1922. From a photograph album of 284 portrait photographs of British and Indian Officers of the Indian Contingent, who attended the Coronation of King George V and Queen Mary, 1911.
