Studio portrait photograph of the 7th Duke of Manchester, William Drogo Montagu, formally of the Grenadier Guards, 1867. He is pictured standing in front of a piece of furniture with his left hand resting on the hilt of his sword. He is wearing a hussars style patrol jacket, probably the uniform of the 1st Huntingdonshire (Duke of Manchester’s Own) Light Horse Volunteer Corps, which he raised. From an album of 202 photographs in the Grenadier Guards Photograph Archive compiled by or presented to Surgeon Major James John Marjoribanks Wardrop. The album is entitled: ‘Personal Album Surgeon Major Wardrup [sic], The Regiment, 1858-1868’, but covers the period 1854-1872. Mainly officers portraits. Grenadier Guards reference number 2.
