Manuscript letter to Mrs Bourne from Capt Dennis Herbert James Ely, 15th Bn Durham Light Infantry, 8 May 1916; he thanks her for continued gifts for his men and describes how cocoa she had sent had revived an exhausted draft of men who had arrived to join his platoon; Ely was killed in action at Fricourt, 2 Jul 1916.
