Letter from Ensign Gordon Hugh Davidson, Bengal European Light Infantry, to his father, Camp near Sutledge, 14 Jan 1846. He describes the hard marching required to take part in the Battle of Ferozeshah - 138 miles in six days - and gives a much more detailed account than in his previous letter of the fighting on 21 and 22 December. Davidson is highly critical of the Honourable East India Company’s sepoys, whom he accuses of a lack of spirit and firing on the British during the battle.
