Description
Letter from Pte Eustace Swain, 3rd (King’s Own) Hussars attached 9th (Queen’s Royal) Lancers, South Africa to his friend Tom Humberstone, England, 12 Nov 1901. Pte Swain describes ‘Now dear chum you ask me to let you know if I want anything well yes I do want an impossiablity that is a barrel of beer and a barmaid sent out to me send the maid out by cable’. Associated with Boer War (1899-1902).
