Photograph showing a mixed group of men, women and one little boy standing in and around a horse and carriage on the Avenue at West Harling Hall, Norfolk, 1896. The manor house and land belonged to Sir Edmund Charles Nugent, 3rd Baronet of Waddesdon, but the house was demolished in 1929. The party is mainly made up of members of the Nugent, Gascoigne and Boileau families who were intermarried and therefore related. The men are possibly going hunting. Most of them are named: (In carriage from left to right): Miss Gurney; Lt George Colborne Nugent; unnamed woman (possibly a nanny?) holding a little boy who may be Lt George Colborne Nugent’s son George Guy Bulwer Nugent; Col Clifton Gasciogne; Mrs Isabel Mary Nugent, wife of George Colborne Nugent; 2/Lt Ernest Frederick Orby Gascoigne (Standing, from left to right): Unnamed groom; Partridge; unnamed man; Sir Maurice Colborne Boileau; his mother Lady Lucy Henrietta Boileau (née Nugent); Violet Nugent; C Caldwell; Sir Francis George Manningham Bouleau; Sir Edmund Charles Nugent. From an album of 99 photographs compiled by or presented to Captain (later Brig-Gen) Ernest Frederick Orby Gascoigne. The album is entitled: ‘Personal album E F O Gascoigne. 1st & 3rd Battalions - 1894-1905’, but covers the period 1892-1905; taken in England and Gibraltar.
