Description

Letter from Lt Col Standish O’Grady to his father the 1st Viscount Guillamore, dated London 31 Mar/1 Apr. In this short letter O’Grady relates that the regiment is still waiting for orders to move and expresses some doubt that this may come due to Bonaparte’s public statements about maintaining the peace of 1814. He also refers to a new order that Cavalry Troops will have their baggage moved in wagons rather than at their own expense, which has ‘created a sensation in the Reg’t’. He also implies he came close to becoming engaged/married himself but that the order for Service had disrupted this. Typed transcript in separate folder.
