Photograph of the participants in a cricket match between the Sergeants of the 1st Battalion Grenadier Guards and Park Place, Berkshire, 10th August 1912. The men are wearing either civilian suits or cricket whites, and they sit or stand in three rows in front of trees. Park Place belonged to Lt Wadham Heathcote Diggle’s mother’s family (Noble). Over the top of the image in the right hand corner another small image has been stuck of Sgt Maj James Edward Parkin, wearing a civilian suit - head and torso only. From an album of 212 photographs (including archives) compiled by or presented to Lt Col Wadham Heathcote Diggle, 1910-1912 (c). It includes many portraits, group portraits and other images, many taken at the Guards Depot in Caterham and Pirbright, plus images of parades, sports, dogs and horses.
