Letter and envelope, and typescript copy, dated 28 Sep 1855.
Sent from Capt Edward Dyneley, Royal Artillery, in camp near Balaklava, to his brother, Capt Henry Dyneley, 1st Regiment of Light Cavalry, in Bangalore informing him that another brother, Lt Douglas Dyneley, Royal Welch Fusiliers, had been wounded during the assault on the Redan on 8 Sep 1855 and died later that day.
The letter reached Bangalore via Alexandria and Bombay.
