Manuscript letter from Lt-Col W Nicolay, Royal Staff Corps, to Maj Gen John Brown, Paris, 23 Jul 1815. 4 pages. This letter discusses officers recommended for brevet promotion after the Battle of Waterloo. A major concern of the letter was the addition of Maj Todd and his company to the Staff Corps serving in the army of occupation for whom there was little to do. Nicolay also expressed concern about the future of the army of occupation itself and in the last letter sought Brown's advice on which if the members of the corps should remain in France.
