Letter, 16 Aug 1915. From 2nd Lieutenant Howard Hicklenton to his parents in London, on crested headed note paper. The battalion is still waiting in Malta ‘expecting orders at any moment’ to proceed to Egypt. Hicklenton relates that he is in charge of ‘beautifully trained’ 5 Pln, B Coy and gives news of his daily life and impressions of Malta. With accompanying envelope with Maltese red 1d stamp, cancelled with 20 Aug 1915 circular date stamp and ‘Opened under martial Law’ adhesive. From a collection of 54 letters and postcards with accompanying envelopes, 1915-1916. Associated with World War One, Gallipoli, Malta and Egypt.
