1914-15 Star. From a medal group awarded to Major G A H Bower, 7th Bn Duke of Cambridge's Own (Middlesex Regiment). This medal is suspended on a red, white and blue striped ribbon with a ring suspender attached to a crown. The colours on the ribbon symbolise the patriotic colours of England. The obverse depicts a four edged star with two swords crossing in the middle. A laurel wreath encircles the dates 1914-15 which are inscribed in the centre in a banner. The royal cypher of King George V is inscribed at the bottom of the wreath. The reverse of this medal has a much simpler design with the rank, name and regiment of Major Bowers inscribed in the centre. This medal was awarded to soldiers who served in any theatre of war from August 1914 to December 1915, disregarding those who had already received the 1914 Star. Associated with World War One (1914-1918).
