Description
East and West Africa Medal 1887-1900, clasps: ‘1898’ and ‘1900’, awarded to Lt Col R H Monck-Mason, Royal Munster Fusiliers. Circular, silver medal with, on the obverse, a portrait of Queen Victoria, with the inscription, ‘Victoria Regina’. On the reverse, designed by Sir Edward Poynter, British infantry fighting African warriors in a forest. The medal is suspended from a yellow ribbon with black edges and two narrow, vertical back stripes, with silver clasps, ‘1898’ and ‘1900’. From a medal group awarded to Lt Col R H Monck-Mason, Royal Munster Fusiliers.
