From Lionel Douglas Hearsey to Harriett Carew, giving news about his father (Capt William Hearsey) taking possession of an estate which had brought him into conflict with the local government who wished to purchase. He has no money at the moment to help her.

Harriett Carew (nee Hearsey) was the eldest daughter of Sir John Hearsey by his first wife Harriet, daughter of his relation Hyder Hearsey. She married Captain George O’Brien Carew CIE, an officer in the Indian Navy, at St Bartholomew’s Church, Barracpore, on 17 June 1858. Lionel Douglas Hearsey was the grandson of Hyder Jung Hearsey, John Hearsey’s half-brother.
