Description
The General Elliot Commemorative Medal, 1787 (c). Pencil drawing, inscribed below as above, by Jean-Pierre Droz (1746-1823), 1787 (c). Studies of Hercules in repose holding the figure of victory; design for a medal, squared up for reduction. The working sketch, squared up for reduction, for the medal commemorating General Elliot, commissioned by Matthew Boulton. The medal was probably not struck until 1816 (c)-1820.
