Manuscript letter, dated 7 Apr 1900. Written by Pte Harry Thurston during his service in the Boer War with 2nd Bn King’s (Shropshire Light Infantry) to his friend Arthur from Bloemfontein. He describes in detail his unit’s role in the Battle of Paardeberg, the state of the dead and the capture of Bloemfontein. He also talks about rations and what good fighters the Boers are. Associated with the Battle of Paardeberg, Boer War (1899-1902) 1900.
