Pattern 1897 infantry officers sword, nd. Presented to Capt Roderick George Macpherson, 41st Dogra Regiment, 16 Jan 1901. Made by Robert Mole, Birmingham. The sword is normal for the pattern with steel hilt and scabbard and fish-skin grip. The cypher is unusual, reading, ‘VR&I’ for Victoria Regina and Imperator, on both blade and hilt.
