Cigar and cigarette box bearing the crest of the Connaught Rangers on the base, associated with Lt P C Joyce, Connaught Rangers, 1900 (c).
Wood, possibly carved by a soldier of the Connaught Rangers. Rectangular, carved in low relief on all four side panels, with a frieze of interlocking circles formed by foliate branches spiralling upon a stippled ground with plain border.  A similar pattern of foliate circles is repeated on a border around the lid, around a central device raised from the surface in deep relief of a crowned Irish harp, above a raised edge scroll inscribed in relief ‘CONNAUGHT RANGER’. Lid secured with a brass lock and attached with two brass hinges.
