Knobkerry, nd. Said to have been collected at Omdurman by Wilfred Robert Abel Smith. Associated with Battle of Omdurman, 2nd Sudan War (1896-1899) 1898. Abel Smith later rose to Lieutenant Colonel. He was in command of 2nd Bn Grenadier Guards during the Battle of Festubert in 1915, when he was struck in the head by a bullet whilst watching the attack from behind a mound of earth with the support companies. He died of his wounds on 19 May and is buried in Le Touret Military Cemetery.
