Officer’s trousers, Nigeria Regiment, Royal West African Frontier Force. Belonged to Capt George Gates. Associated with George Mervyn Gates MRCVS, no. 2 coy. reserve battalion, the Nigeria Regiment. Gates was in a reserved occupation as a vet and he served with the Colonial Office in Nigeria. He joined the Nigeria Regiment in 1938. He spoke Hausa and Faulani so was mainly involved in training the recruits.
