Wooden scabbard covered in reptile or fishskin, with decorated gilt metal mounts decorated with floral motifs and two suspension rings; belonging to Officer’s Presentation Sword, 1811; adapted from Light cavalry Officer’s Pattern 1796; presented to Lt Col McCarthy by Lt Gen Martin Hunter, on the occasion of his leaving the 104th Regiment of Foot to join the New Brunswick Regiment Fencible Infantry; the New Brunswick Regiment were raised in Canada by a Letter of Service, dated 6 Jul 1803, which was granted to Col Martin Hunter.
