Fencing medal awarded by the Scottish Naval and Military Academy to James C Scott, 1838. Silver, with ornamental foliate projection at the top attached to a swivelling suspender. Obverse: Within a quadruple raised rim, upon a frosted ground, in high relief, a depiction of the head and shoulders of a Greek warrior facing dexter, his helmet surmounted by a lion couchant gardant. The warrior is armed with a spear, partially visible over his dexter shoulder, and a circular shield, the top of which is visible in the foreground, depicting a winged charioteer. Reverse: Within a quadruple raised rim, upon a slightly convex burnished ground, inscription.
