Photograph showing a view of an expansive grassy plain, strewn with rocks. Staff officers wearing foreign field service dress and smoking, lie down or sit in the foreground amid wooden boxes, probably ammunition boxes, rifles and a pack horse. In the background right are horses with limbers or wagons and in the distant left is the small town of Witput in which a battle is running, South Africa, July 1900. Featuring Brigade Signalling Officer Cunningham, Brigade Major Rennie and General Cooper Wilson. From 31 photographs mostly relating to the Boer War, compiled by Capt W E L Stewart, 1900.
