Pencil sketch by Elizabeth Thompson (later Lady Butler), 1873. Two sketches, both of a mounted soldiers, one in left profile, the horse is rearing slightly and the soldier is blowing a trumpet. The other shows a soldier with spiked helmet from behind, the horse barely indicated, both horizontal on the page. From a sketchbook of pencil and pen and ink drawings by Elizabeth Thompson (later Lady Butler) (1846-1933), inscribed on the flyleaf ‘Feb 23 1873’, 1873.
