Description
White pawn, carved ivory piece from a chess set, made in Berhampur, India, 1820 (c). A Bengal sepoy standing at attention upon a circular plinth; the sepoy wears a shako with a plume, a double breasted coatee. Set represents the forces of the East India Company and an Indian Prince's army, 1820 (c).
