Description

A handwritten copy of letters copied by Charlotte Maxwell, originally written by Francis Maxwell to her. The letters copied out date from 9th - 10th April 1917. In the copy of the letter from the 9th April Francis Maxwell includes details about sending his men over the top of the parapet. He sarcastically makes referance to the fact that he is in the dugout, under enemy fire rather than 'enjoying life at the top' with other high ranking officers. Francis Maxwell also mentions making objectives with relatively light casualties.
