Description
Letter to Lt Dugmore from Dr W I Ansorge from Masindi, 3 Nov 1897. Responds to the death of a few men when ‘they repulsed the mutineers [and] killed those villains.’ Mentions the insolence of a new native officer, and hopes that Dugmore will return soon; appears uncomfortable with the clerk in charge and the native officers as he finds them disrespectful or looking to make mischief. From a collection of 116 letters and papers relating to Lt William Francis Brougham Radcliffe Dugmore (1868-1917) during the Uganda Mutiny, November 1896-January 1899. Collected by W Lloyd-Jones, author of ‘KAR: being an unofficial account of the origins and activities of the King’s African Rifles’, 1920s.
