Sent to Lt Gen Colin Campbell when a Lieutenant of the 55th Regiment of Foot at Boston, America from his father John Campbell, First Cashier of the Royal Bank of Scotland.
Letter discusses his difficult passage of the 55th Regiment of Foot with the 17th Regiment of Foot to Boston and asks him to rely on Maj Mungo Campbell for money whilst there as he has no way of supplying him. he also discusses the news they have heard about the war in the newspapers.
