Letter, 3 to 10 Nov 1915. Written in the form of a diary of a week in the trenches, from 2/Lt Howard Hicklenton in Gallipoli to his parents in London. 2/Lt Hicklenton has passed his bombing course with honours and has been recommended for an advanced course to become one of the Battalion’s two bombing officers. The letter is mostly concerned with the daily realities of trench warfare. With accompanying envelope, postage free with manuscript inscription ‘On Active Service’, ‘FIELD POST OFFICE N.L.I + 12 NO15’ circular date stamp, passed by censor no 2566 with red crown square stamp, signed H Hicklenton.
