Photograph of Lt George Colborne Nugent (sitting) and 2/Lt Ernest Frederick Orby Gascoigne (kneeling) as they either act or play around in a large garden, probably Nugent’s family estate at West Harling, Norfolk, 1896 (c). Both are in the 3rd Battalion, Grenadier Guards. Nugent is wearing a paper hat and eye patch and sits with his legs outstretched and a cane over them. Gascoigne holds a handkerchief to one eye and has his arm around Nugent’s shoulders.
