Receipt for the money, dated 13 Jun 1924. Relates to a letter from Imperial War Graves Commission to Ernest Bassett, concerning money paid to place an inscription on the headstone of Pte Leslie Bassett, dated 1 Jul 1924. Associated with World War One (1914-1918). From a collection of 82 letters, cuttings and maps related to the service and death of Pte Leslie ‘Jack’ Bassett, serving with the 32nd Bn Australian Infantry Force in France during World War One (1914-1918). Bassett was born in London and emigrated to Australia, where he enlisted, and was batman to Brig Gen C S Davies, Bassett died in Harefield Hospital on 10 Jan 1919 of a weak heart.
