Description
Photograph of the winners of the Roberts Cup, Army Rifle Meeting, 1912. The four soldiers from the Grenadier Guards pose for the image in a field with tents in the distance. They are wearing service dress with forage caps and hold their rifles. Shooting medals can be seen attached to their upper left arms and a silver trophy sits on a box in between them. They are named as (from left to right): C/Sgt Instructor in Musketry J L Capper; L/Cpl A Pearce; Drummer A Betts; Sgt V Burke From an album of 27 photographs entitled: ‘3rd Battalion Grenadier Guards. Sergeants Mess’, 1898-1922. Most are images taken in Chelsea Barracks, Wellington Barracks and the Tower of London, with some taken in South Africa.
